But Ronan Tynan not only returns here to the PBS airwaves that helped spread his fame as a member of the Irish Tenors trio, but he overturns a few clichés while delivering a live concert (recorded at the Royal Dublin Society in June 2002) that encompasses everything from Broadway and pop chestnuts to Italian operatic repertoire. Tynan rewards Irish traditions old and new (a medley of Brian Kennedy's and U2's 'Life, Love & Happiness'/'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For') and even makes left turns into folkie songstress territory (Joni Mitchell's 'Both Sides Now,' Sarah McLachlan's 'Angel'). Backed by RTE Orchestra, the unlikely international star invests himself completely in all of it, his strong, crystalline voice playing off the traditions, while forging strong new bonds with the contemporary. --Jerry McCulley
Buyer Reviews : Ronan Tynan is a multi-talented individual who is a doctor,an athlete who has won gold medals in disabled competion and set world records and an author. His greatest gift however, is a voice that can stop one in their tracks. Known as one of the celebrated Irish tenors, this solo outing proves that he is the real deal. The sound quality of this live recording made in Dublin really is a dream come true for fans of this opera trained tenor. He sings Irish classics like 'Danny Boy', to broadway 'The Impossible Dream'. He gives such contemporary tunes like 'Both Sides Now' and the U2 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For' a whole new deep sound. The orchestra and the London Community Gospel Choir are flawless as is Ronan. Hey, the bottom line is I am a classic rock guy who appreciates good music from all walks of life, and Ronan Tynan makes great music and that is all that matters! Ronan Tynan is truly an artist with a vocal ability that should be heard by all.
