The first of the Fab Five to break out on his own, Carter reveals a rocker's heart that's lurked under his high-gloss pop exterior. While he rasps and struts through his 12-song debut, we're not talking headbanging mayhem here. Carter excels in the brand of guitar rock that put Bon Jovi and Bryan Adams on the map. The elder Carter conjures the militaristic flamboyance of Queen on 'Girls In The USA,' or the teasing coyness of 'Raspberry Beret'-era Prince on 'My Confession.' The anthemic 'Is It Saturday Yet' is another highlight. Despite a seven-year tenure singing other people's songs as a member of America's favorite boy band, Carter proves himself an able tunesmith, penning five of the tracks on the disc, and plays some fine guitar.
Buyer Reviews : CD TITLE: 'Now or Never' ARTIST: Nick Carter
AMAZING. There's no better word to describe Nick Carter's debut solo album. There is an excellent song for all tastes! 'Help Me', which is also the current single, and 'My Confession' perfectly reflect the new pop/rock sound which seems to be the latest fashion; but because it is the latest fashion that does not mean it is trivial, as some people might think. On the contrary, both are fresh songs, with original lyrics, bringing a new flavor to pop! But, hey, all you people who are always criticizing BSB because you consider them 'just a boyband' (of course they are a boyband...they are boys and they are band, that is all!), you will be gladly surprised by this album, showing a definitely rocking Nick!!! If you are curious and do not believe me...run to listen to 'I Stand For You', 'I Just Wanna Take You Home' and 'Is It Saturday Yet'! 'Blow Your Mind' is a powerful song with a breathtaking 80s synth sound! And for all the romantic out there, do not worry, there is bread for your teeth, too! 'Do I Have To Cry For You' (the next single) is just what you need! and last but certainly not least, 'I Got You' and 'Who Needs The World', the two real pearls on this excellent album, which will open you 12 doors on a world of multicoloured emotions you will never want to leave! ARE YOU STILL THERE?! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! JUST GO BUY IT!
