But in the growing world of electronica-infused music, it does little to distinguish itself. The band borrows styles from many sources without ever really excelling at any of them. Most of the tracks sound remarkably like Hooverphonic, but sound flat when compared with the dreamy and hypnotic 'A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular'. 'Genetic World' is nothing more than Kraftwerk and Air bottled into one, so why not try those first? 'Trishika' is an attempt at dark, moody trip-hop that sounds lightweight when compared to Massive Attack. And 'Let's Go Again' is embarassingly bad. You want some good funky electro-pop? Go buy Cibo Matto ('Stereotype-A' is brilliant). The bottom line is that this album plays like a sampler CD, and is worse off for it. For a better sampling, try Mono ('Formica Blues'), Emiliana Torrini (Love in the Time of Science'), Lemonjelly.ky ('Lemon Jelly'), Ivy ('Long Distance'), and the CDs mentioned above. Sure, 8 CDs cost more than one, but you'll never miss the money.
