She's been hailed for her multi-octave vocal range--a tool that sometimes detracts from her pop recordings, but actually works quite beautifully in the context of this charming holiday collection. Fans will surely approve of Carey's renditions of slinky secular songs like 'Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home)' and a nicely subdued 'All I Want for Christmas Is You.' But where she really surprises is in her unadorned delivery of a passel of traditional carols, highlighted by 'Silent Night' (which she sings quietly, avoiding the temptation to wail those high notes) and 'Jesus, Oh What a Wonderful Child.' A must for diehards, and a pleasant surprise for the unconverted.

I got this album as a gift for christmas way back in 1994 and never stopped listening to it ever since! It's the ultimate christmas album anyone can wish for! Mariah's voice is amazing and the songs here really showcase her grat talent. Her rendition of 'O Holy Night' is mesmerizing, one listen and you're on the floor! Celine Dion's version of the song is downright horrible (well, she should know you do NOT sing a song already sung by Mariah, it just won't work). The standouts on this cd are undoubtedly the songs written/composed by Mariah, 'all i want for christmas' and 'Miss You Most'. The first an uptemop, fun song that became a huge hit all over the world and the latter an amazing ballad about missing someone especially at christmas time (it's my favorite on the album).
Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy this excellent cd, especially now when it's christmas!
