For those who prefer the soft side of singer/stud Scott Stapp and his cohorts, there are the melodic and soaring 'Hide' and 'Don't Stop Dancing.' But more interesting is 'Bullets,' which finds Stapp raging before a surprisingly heavy and intense musical backdrop. Other highlights include the Seattle-sound throwback 'Freedom Fighter,' the Zeppelinesque 'Who's Got My Back,' and the disc's first single, 'My Sacrifice.' The effects-laden, passionate 'Signs' contrasts nicely with the laid-back, world-weary title track and 'Lullaby.' Ultimately, Weathered gently expands the seemingly fail-proof formula.
Buyer Reviews : In a word, 'Wow.' Much of it is the Creed we know and love...Power guitar, pounding drums and the unique voice of Scott Stapp...only with a musical maturity when compared to 'My Own Prison' and 'Human Clay.' The middle of the album is very Creed-like and shouldn't disappoint.
1. 'Bullets' - Pure, unadulterated rock and roll on a level we haven't heard from Creed before.
2. 'Freedom Fighter' - Driving hook and power chords.
3. 'Who's Got My Back' - One of the most unique tracks, complete with Indian chanting. 8+ minutes of good, subdued music.
4. 'Signs' - Competes with the first track for overall power rock and roll.
5. 'One Last Breath' - More of the same Creed with a nice range of subdued guitar and a power chorus.
6. 'My Sacrifice' - The first single from the album, very appropriate for mainstream fans. Solid music.
7. 'Stand Here With Me' - 80's/early 90's stadium rock sound, found elsewhere on this album.
8. 'Weathered' - Mellow, good groove music. Chorus picks up nicely for a good combination. Think 'Higher.'
9. 'Hide' - More of the stadium band sound with powerful, religious undertones.
10. 'Don't Stop Dancing' - A natural follow up to 'Arms Wide Open' and very appropriate radio sound including backup vocals by Mrs. Stapp.
11. 'Lullaby' - The surprise of the album, this is a mellow finale for an otherwise rocking album.
Overall, this is a very sound effort by Creed. I love the 'hair band' sound with enough of an edge to distinguish itself nicely. Creed's best to date!
