The band's second album, Silver Side Up, starts with 'Never Again,' an angry tirade against domestic violence that sheds light on the issue without too much sap or sentiment. The album's catchy radio hit 'How You Remind Me' and the song 'Woke Up This Morning' tell of rotting relationships, while other tracks touch on damaged hope and lost dreams. The post-grunge, alt-metal combo backing these songs packs as strong a punch as the lyrical material, going hard with lots of hooks. The additional slide guitar on 'Hangnail' and sludgy, alt-metal riffs on 'Hollywood,' 'Money Bought,' and 'Where Do I Hide' add a little meat to the alt-rock bones on Silver, elevating Nickelback above the heap of copycat rockers clogging the airwaves.
Buyer Reviews : I've had this CD for about 3 weeks, and so far it hasn't come out of my CD player yet. There are some songs on there, that aren't as good as others, but most of them are great! Never Again is a very good song, not top notch, but the lyrics are outstanding, and make up for anything it lacks. How You Remind me, everyone has heard it, very good song, it gets old though. Too Bad is an outstanding song, it sounds very good, one of the best on this CD. Where Do I Hide is my second favorite song on this CD, very good guitar work, good lyrics, and just a plain fun song. I haven't heard very many people talking about the song Good Times Gone...this is the best song I've heard in a while by any band...the first time I listened to it I got chills. I love this song!!! The slide guitar is really what makes this song work! Basically, if you like this style of music, GO FOR IT. It's not as clean cut as Staind, and it's probably not one I'll listen to for tons of time like Staind, but it's a very good CD by a very good band!
