Creed's moody guitar grunge and ardent lyrics, coupled with singer Scott Stapp's passionate vocals, helped My Own Prison sell millions. Human Clay demonstrates that this likable quartet hasn't messed with success; they turn in a sophomore outing rife with evocative moodiness, soaring guitars, and a dark, roiling, intense vibe. 'Beautiful' is but one of the winners on this strong 11-song CD. Haunting and indeed beautiful, the track is more delicate and seductive than most heard here, as is another lilting and mysterious entry, 'Never Die,' which boasts some Middle Eastern accents. 'Higher' is typical Creed--safe, emotive guitar rock for the masses, but with a slight edge. Memorable hooks, Soundgarden-like guitars, and Vedder-like vocals make Human Clay at once compelling and effectively redundant.
Buyer Reviews : A little advise to those who're still crazy about Pearl Jam and keep feeding their jealousy for Creed: stop listening to the latter, and you'll do a favour to everyone including dear old Pearl Jam and Creed, and all the rest. Pearl Jam's great, but why should Creed necessarily be worse, when all the US and most of the rest world are being blown away with the Creed's tunes and talent in general. The guys are commercial all right, but first music, the rest is after, and anyone would better be objective and accept the simple fact: Creed rocks, making their Human Clay the event in the music world of the recent times.
The album opens with a number of brilliant heavier-and-faster songs, and among those Are You Ready is one of the most refreshing and adrenalizing one, a perfect starter for the whole cd. What If and Say I are two more tracks that are rather obvious standouts, with memorable both rhythms and tunes, and nice guitar riffs, not even mentioning lyrics which are smart and so typical to Creed. Beautiful is one of the most awesome tracks at all that turns to us the best side of the genre, showing the perfectness of the vocal talent of Stapp and getting inside of us with a real catchy tune. Never Die may remind you of a number of styles and known bands but still is very attractive, and sounds good enough to be a transition link between the two parts of the cd. The lyrics is meaningful and clever, and nice again. There is less sense in talking too much about With Arms Wide Open and Higher: those are incredible ballads that still keep their positions in the national and international charts, and can really please anyone with a good taste of music and interests from Bryan Adams to Metallica. Once again they perfectly give you a chance to appreciate Stapp's passionate vocals. Wash Away Those Years is no way worse, and can easily move itself (Higher) in the charts of any kind. The similar trend would be followed by Inside Us All, the closing track of the cd that impresses fairly with its lyrics and unforgettable melody.
The whole cd is a comlete and professional work of the musicians whose skills were used so wisely, and with such a good feeling of a beauty in the music art, so the cd definitely deserves the appreciation it receives from masses all around the globe.
Just buy it.
