Hands down, 50 Cent is the biggest buzz emcee since Eminem (who just happens to be his label CEO), and Get Rich also features Dr. Dre on production, so it’s a can’t-miss record, right? Well, mostly. Get Rich is not filled with midtempo, radio-friendly numbers like 'Wanksta,' his thinly veiled Ja Rule dis first heard on the 8 Mile soundtrack. Instead, Cent brings the heat, not heater. He sheds his inner thug on '21 Questions,' featuring G-funk crooner Nate Dogg showing some semblance of respect to the hotties, and then reverts right back to his thug persona on 'In da Club,' where he boasts 'I’m into having sex, I ain’t into making love.' There’s no 'How to Rob, Pt. 2' here, although 'Many Men' comes close, as he addresses some of the haters who may not fully get why he’s now rap’s big cheese. Surprisingly, the two Eminem-produced joints--'Patiently Waiting' (which thematically is very much like Em’s 'Lose Yourself'), and 'Don’t Push Me'--almost rival the beats supplied by Dre. Then again, it seems his most well-known cuts ('High All the Time' and 'Wanksta,' for example) are actually some of the weakest of the lot. Sure, Get Rich could never have lived up to the hype, it’s nowhere near Biggie's Ready to Die or Nas's Illmatic, but there's no fast-forward material here, a near miracle in these times. --Dalton Higgins
Buyer Reviews : Why is it that everything Dre stamps his name on people just run out and get it? Back in the 80's to early 90's when it said Produced by Dr Dre it meant tracks 1-13. Now it seems like when you see 'Produced by Dr Dre he only does 3 songs on the whole lp and the rest are done my new comer's! It seems like the simpler an album or song is the more it sells! I guess if it takes to much thought people don't conceive it well! I don't understand why someone with the Legacy he has would waste time with an artist like this? What happened to the more promising artist outof his camp? What happeed to the Return of N.W.A? What ever happened with the Snoop & Dre return? What ever happened to 'Ice Cube & Dre 'HelterSkelter?' What ever happened to The RETURN OF THE LEGENDARY 'RAKIM?' I am beginnig to believe that Dre is intimidated by these projects because he knows everyone is going to have high expectations that he possibly can't deliver. I think Dre is a Genious, but I also think that his formula has become more simple over the years. I also think that Yella, was a huge part of why his earlier work was a bit more up beat and complex. I also think that the return of N.W.A wasn't made because Dre couldn't create the same feel without Yella. Now we have 50 cent, a mediocure rapper with some O.K beats. Once again everyone gives Dre Credit and he barely touched the Keyboard. I think this album is basic in my opinion. I have heard much better work from Dre in the past. The two singles are catchy but that is it. Over all this cd really shows nothing different it is a pretty simple formula. Other than the 3 dre penned tracks the rest is just alright! His flow isn't anything special is subject matter is selfish! His voice definitley isn't going to hold the test of time ! Goes to show you Dre has alot of respect, it is sad when you have people like Timbaland out there really working hard and they get overlooked.I mean Timbaland just keeps Hurting Nikgas, but yet in still he doesn't get the Props! Timbalands 'Ms Jade' is a far more superior artist than this. And the tracks blow anything on here out the soil! But has she sold 900,000 units? NOOOOOOOO! By the way amongst all the other promises Dre has made, what happened to Timbaland & Dre 'Chairman of the Board?' Lucky for Dre & Eminem they have done so much good work in the past that even when they don't try they fool everyone! This is a Fad Cd and I refuse to jump on the band wagon. 2 years from now noone is going to want to play this anymore. I don't know I guess Dre & Eminem are like Gucci and Prada! It's all about the Brand Name not the Quality!
