Such is the case on this exuberant but somewhat pedestrian CD. Smith gives it his all on cuts like the hip-shaking 'Block Party' and the jittery 'Gotta Go Home,' but the slickly produced tales of good times and wicked women are way too familiar. Luckily, Smith stretches a bit with the heavy dose of R&B delivered by his vocal protégé Tra-Knox and on the rock-injected single (and promo tool for the film Men in Black II) 'Black Suits Comin' (Nod Ya Head).' The stinging guitars give Smith an excuse to strut, and the ensuing bravado gives him an edge he often lacks.
Buyer Reviews : With his new disc, Smith really shows he is Born to Reign. With help with Tra-Knox on almost every track, and with his wife Jada on one track (1000 Kisses) he shows that he has really grown since he was the Fresh Prince.
Every track on this CD is worth listening to. They all are worthy of being singles. Each has a party vibe and are all fresh sounding.
This is probably his best CD without the Prince moniker. (I think 'He's the DJ, I'm the Rapper' is the best) He shows a more mature side with this disc rather than any other. He kinda lacks in the humor area, but he makes up for it some other ways.
Top five songs on the disc. (No particular order)
1. Black Suits Comin' (Nod Ya Head) 2. Act Like You Know 3. I Can't Stop 4. 1000 Kisses 5. How Da Beat Goes.
Don't get me wrong. The all the tracks rock the house.
In other words, go buy the CD. It's worthy of being in your collection.
