This music, produced in the mid-'80s as the soundtrack to a BBC series, was released as her debut in 1987 and promptly ignored--yet its mix of atmospheric soundscapes and Enya's lush, layered vocals, sung in both English and Gaelic, is the template for her subsequent global hits, beginning with Watermark the following year.
Buyer Reviews : One day I heard a song, so distinct and beautiful that I just knew. I knew it was Enya and I had to find that song, so I bought a CD and listened desperately to hear my song. It was not to be found on 'The Celts,' but soon after listening to the mysterious, poignant notes of this album I was hooked. 'I Want Tomorrow' is a much loved song of mine, mixing images of love, both lost and found, together in my mind. The simplistic melody of 'To Go Beyond Pt. One' brings forth childhood memories of ease and innocence all within its short play time of a little over a minute. The song names 'Fairytale,' 'Portrait' and 'To Go Beyond' are enough to draw me into this CD and style of music. It is true music, the kind that gets to your soul and I cannot recommend it enough.
