Few would say that this is arguably not one of the finest jazz guitar recordings of all time. Joe Pass elevated jazz guitar, especially solo playing to an entirely new level with this release and the Virtuoso recordings that followed. It is immediately evident to the listener that the recordings are unrehearsed, and spontaneous, which of course describes the essence of jazz. Few have demonstrated as complete
a mastery of hisher own instrument in jazz.... Like Charlie Parker said, first master your instrument, then forget all that...and play. Joe and Charlie are on the same page. Don't miss this one.
