In light of the September 11th terrorist attacks on the United States I wanted something to remember my countrymen - some music that recalled the spirit of freedom and the reasons for a call to arms. I ordered the American Patriot CD by Lee Greenwood because of its moving tribute song 'God Bless the USA'. I was moved to tears by that song again a few days later when the CD arrived, just as I was when Lee Greenwood made that song popular during the Gulf War. When I ordered the CD on September 11th it had ranked #347 on the Amazon sales Chart - now writing this review on September 15th the CD is Amazon's #1 seller, and for good reason.
American Patriot contains all the patriotic favorites that bring to mind the sacrifices made by Americans over these past two and one quarter centuries - from the minutemen of Concord to the men and women in uniform today, each is accorded honor. And each is warranted our respect and praise for the price they have paid to keep our country free.
Whether tested by King or tyrant, our nations unending devotion to God and His principles of government embodied in our constitution will never falter, waiver, nor retreat. Just as the Gulf War era bumper sticker reads: Red, White, and Blue - These colors don't run!
Lee Greenwood has done a great work in creating this album. Little did he realize how much we'd need these songs now. Along with Lee you'll 'Thank your lucky stars you're living here today - 'cause the flag still stands for freedom. And they can't take that away!' Americans and those around the world who thank God for America will love this album. God Bless our people, God Bless our Soldiers, and God Bless the USA!
