After listening to his European style of cabaret music, you too will be hooked on the crooner who is widely appreciated for rhyming Napoli with Minneapoli. The selection of 20 songs ranges in style from a mixture of French chansonette to tango. All feature his raspy voice (Americans may be reminded of Tom Waits) with unmistakably wry lyrics that offer lovers and listeners alike the sensuality and complexity of gelato al limon (lemon ice cream). --Cristina Del Sesto
Buyer Reviews : It's difficult to describe Paolo Conte's musical style as anything but original. Jazz and blues are certainly involved, as is a style reminiscent of the famous Fred Buscaglione, in creating his music but there's a typical italian melodious sound that borders on the melancholy which is really beautiful. to understand what I mean listen to 'Impermeabili' and pay attention to the orchestration. I bought a copy as soon as I heard it. Wish I could say that many current Italian singers even come close to writing songs like Paolo Conte. He belongs with Battisti, Baglioni, Cocciante, early Venditti and Becaud, Aznavour, Gainsbourg, Dassin...
