No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems taps directly into the squiggly vein that runs between adolescence and adulthood, when responsibilities call and Jimmy Buffett dreams beckon. As much a celebration of life as of youth itself, the album succeeds best when Chesney turns wistful and thought-provoking ('A Lot of Things Different,' 'Good Stuff') and makes firm decisions about what really matters in life. Sentimentality reigns supreme--you can already imagine a sea of flickering cigarette lighters when he does this material live--but as 'Big Star,' a song about a girl who wants to be just that, spells out, No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems is a solid affirmation to go for what you want in this silly ol' world. Chesney certainly has, and if this short, bald guy from tinytown, Tennessee, can catch a rainbow, the rest of us ought to take heart.
Buyer Reviews : This is the best album that Kenny Chesney has produced yet. There is literally not one bad song on it. I bought it a week ago and have not yet taken it out of the cd player. There are a lot of ballads on this album. The title song 'No shoes, No shirt...' is an island type song about him dreaming of getting away from it all. It has an 'island' feel to it without the steel drum. 'Live the Songs' is my favortie track...it is very upbeat and is about a guy who wishes that he could relive the parts of his life that he is reminded of when he hears a certain song. 'Young' is of course the first release about adolescence. #6- A slower song about a gal that he is thinking of and he knows that she has moved on with her life and is living 'On the Coast of Somewhere Beautiful. #4- The Good Stuff-is his latest release and he sang it on the ACM's. I could go on and on, but you get the picture. In the CD insert, it did not have the words but it gives a story from Kenny Chesney about what the songs are really about and why he decided to record them. If you like his music style and are looking for an easy listening cd that you don't have to skip a bunch of songs...then this is the one!
