For anyone who suspects that record companies will soon be releasing Eva Cassidy's voice mail messages, it's extraordinarily pleasing to note that Imagine is more than just a bottom-of-the-barrel-scraping exercise. All of these tracks are previously unreleased and most are live recordings, but listeners who already own Live at Blues Alley know just how refreshing Cassidy's live performances were. Check out her take on Sandy Denny's 'Who Knows Where the Time Goes?' to feel a shiver of ... Regular Price : $16.98

Tony Bennett has a typical lack of effusiveness about the kudos of his seven-decade career, but he does reportedly display an inscribed picture from a longtime colleague and fellow saloon singer in his Manhattan apartment. It reads: 'To the best goddamned pop singer I've ever heard.' It's signed 'Frank Sinatra.' But don't take the Chairman's word for it. Just listen as these two discs bound from one masterly performance to the next, documenting a career whose ups and downs--Bennett ... Regular Price : $24.98

Fourteen years and six albums into her recording career, British thrush Julia Fordham hasn't quite earned the following one might have forecast for her when she arrived with a bit of fanfare in the late '80s. That said, she's persevered long enough to have garnered the admiration of a core of devotees and more than a few notable musicians, including this collection's guests, India Arie and Joe Henry. That Fordham has become something of ... Regular Price : $16.98

The cast recording for the Broadway musical of John Waters's 1988 paean to dance, music, big beautiful women, and integration is a sheer delight. It's wonderfully upbeat all the way through, with a classic feel that's in keeping with the story's setting in the early 1960s. The characters come alive in these songs, from Marissa Jaret Winokur's (Tracy Turnblad) opening lines in 'Good Morning Baltimore' to the stunningly upbeat finale, 'You Can't Stop the Beat.' The music is by Marc ... Regular Price : $18.98

Years after the '90s, the decade will be remembered for the rise of pianist-vocalist Diana Krall. Simply put, this British Columbian-born artist is one of the most engaging musicians to emerge from the heap of scat-happy singers high on pyrotechnics, but short on poetry. Stamped with the imprimatur of the Nat King Cole trio and blessed by her apprenticeship with the late West Coast piano giant Jimmy Rowles, Krall simply sings songs the ... Regular Price : $18.98

I bought this CD back when it first was issued. Having had several of his previous CDs, I wondered if he would be able to keep up with his previous releases.
I was not dissatisfied, as a matter of fact, I think it is his best work. The incredible haunting flute of Ashanti is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to incredible collaboration with the artists on this cd.
I reccommend it highly and place it on my 20 ... Regular Price : $11.98

Recorded at the historic Olympia Theatre in Paris in November 2001, this is Diana Krall's first live album. Backed by her quicksilver combo of bassist John Clayton, drummer Jeff Hamilton, and guitarist John Pisano (on some tracks), Krall's jazz heritage comes through loud and clear on this program of standards, ballads, and bossa novas. On Peggy Lee's 'I Love Being Here with You,' Bob Dorough's 'Devil May Care,' and Frank Sinatra's 'Fly Me to the Moon,' Krall's snappy, postbop piano ... Regular Price : $18.98

I just received this single yesterday (9/22/02). Kelly Clarkson is a wonderful singer, but she is brought down by cheesy songwriting. I don't think she does lovesongs very well. She shines in songs that she performed in the American Idol Series, such as RESPECT. The cheesy song 'moment like this' does not allow Kelly's awesome singing ability to come through. Now, if I could get a cd quality recording of all the songs she performed on ... Regular Price : $4.49

In the 1970s, Natalie Cole made a spectacular debut. And, after a number of personal and professional setbacks in the '80s, she bounced back with her splendid 1991 rendition of her daddy's hit, 'Unforgettable,' where she electronically performed a 'duet' with her father. This CD reunites Cole with producer by Tommy LiPuma, who produced 'Unforgettable' and was the hit maker behind George Benson and Diana Krall. This collection is a classic blend of jazz-inflected pop, with the best and ... Regular Price : $18.98

This album does what their previous album failed to do; capture the sound of Bond on cd. Don't get me wrong, I loved Born. It's a great album. But after seeing the band's concert DVD, I got the feeling Born didn't quite capture their sound. This album does just that. It captures them perfectly. The title track showcases everything that is Bond: Gypsy violin, world beats, ethnic instruments (sitars anyone?) and tons of attitude. They've ... Regular Price : $17.98
